Content Management Systems

Content Management tools provide our customers with more autonomy

A web Content Management System (CMS) is a software application used to manage the content of a website – text, images, video, documents, etc.

In the early days of the web, major content publishers realized that very large websites like The Times and silicon.com needed complex workflow systems to ensure their content was created, edited, approved and published by the right people at the right time. So they built the first CMS applications from scratch – we know this because we were there.

Many other organizations and individuals were realizing that managing the content of their websites was critical but were often frustrated by having to instruct web developers when even the simplest of changes was required. They began to demand more control over their content. The result was an explosion of CMS software.

These days there are hundreds of different CMS applications. We tend to use Typo3 or Silverstripe and our customers benefit because they can publish, edit or delete their website content themselves, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For most people that’s enough but if you need the workflow systems too, we can certainly help you put them in place.
